Athletic, Friendly, Competitive and Community Oriented
Congratulations to Meghan Cobb, the January 2022 Athlete of the Month!
Where were you in your fitness journey before BSC and where are you now?
Stuck and bored! I've always been an active and team-based kinda gal - participating in leagues, intramurals and various WO classes. When gyms, hiking trails, classes, leagues and outdoor parks shut down, a part of me also shut down. Tried to stay consistent with completing 75 hard challenge, golfing, biking and body weight exercises but it just got to be so mundane - blehhh. I was missing competition, the mental challenge, weightlifting and people! My fitness journey since joining the BSC family has been nothing but a huge blessing! I got my sense of competition and drive back!
What were your goals when you started and have you achieved any of them?
When I started my goals were to be consistent, push myself mentally and physically and make my fitness & well-being a priority - continually achieving!
New goals - get 10 consecutive body weight pull ups! Andrew and I are also are competing in a half Ironman this summer and goal is to complete the race in >6 hours!
What about BSC makes you keep coming back?
I was looking for a gym I could get back into weight training and had team/community at its core. A place that could pull me out of my rut to get back on track. A place like BSC! After my onboarding with Dawna it was a no brainer this was where I needed to be. Getting to know everyone at BSC has been one of my highlights and the coaches are all so down to earth, knowledgeable and all around awesome! What also keeps me coming back is the workouts/programming. They're challenging yet balanced to continue achieving a higher level of fitness and best part is I'm never bored! I love competition and really enjoyed competing in the anniversary event this past August!
When/what was your "ah ha!" moment?
When I could carry all the grocery's inside, in one trip! I contribute that to Flex Fridays and increased grip strength!
Does anyone at the gym (member or trainer) inspire you and why?
Everyone who has and does attend the 3:15 burn and build inspire me! The 3:15 class is awesome and the perfect time - some days class sizes are small, some day's it's at full capacity, has its regulars, has its newbies, I get to meet and see people who usually attend a CrossFit class, or the real MVP's who attend the 3:15 as their warm up to the 4:30 class - y'all inspire me! I'm inspired by everyone I've had the pleasure of working out alongside who continually push me and have throughly enjoyed getting to know so many of you!
