Where were you in your fitness journey before BSC and where are you now?

Movement has always been a part of my life--tennis, HIIT, CrossFit, Spartan Races. These days, I’m mostly into CrossFit, rock climbing (I’m currently having the most fun with bouldering), and hiking.

What were your goals when you started, and have you achieved any of them?

When I  joined in April 2022, my goal was simple: sign up for a couple months to get back into a regular fitness routine. Well, here I am—three years later! BSC helped me build consistency, but it has also given me so much more: community, confidence, and strength.

What about BSC makes you keep coming back?

One word: community. The people here are welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental. It's those “good job” fist bumps after a grueling workout. It’s that moment when someone encourages you to finish that last rep or when the coach offers a quick tip that suddenly makes everything click. That’s the kind of environment where you feel like everyone wants you to succeed, and that’s what keeps me coming back.

When/what was your "ah ha!" moment?

I can’t say I’ve had one specific aha moment; it’s been a bunch of little moments. I hit a few 1 RM PRs in 2023 and 2024—95# bench press, 140# back squat, and 205# deadlift—which shocked me. Then there was the 2025 Open—my first Open. I challenged myself by doing all the workouts Rx and surprised myself at how I performed. There’s nothing like lifting heavy shit to boost my confidence.

Does anyone at the gym (member or trainer) inspire you and why?

Everyone. It’s inspiring to see so many people of all abilities and ages show up and prioritize their health. As a physical therapist, I too often see how people’s health takes a backseat and the consequences of that. It’s heartbreaking to watch individuals struggle or suffer because they didn’t (or sometimes couldn’t) prioritize their health and fitness. That’s a big reason why I push myself the way I do. I don’t want to be in that position. I want to feel strong, capable, and healthy as I get older. It’s not just about lifting heavier weights; it’s about setting myself up for a better future. Aging is inevitable, but we can choose how we age and control what we can.
