Congratulations to our March 2025 Athlete of the Month, Sean Seewoo Hann!
Where were you in your fitness journey before BSC and where are you now?
I grew up as a chubby kid in Korea (South to be exact), where academics took priority over exercise. I spent most of my time at a desk trying to get grades, unsure how to start my fitness journey. That changed during my mandatory military service, where I did my first chest-to-ground push-up at age 22—and never looked back. I started with bodybuilding style of training but shifted to CrossFit in 2015 after multiple injuries on my back and knees. Now in my 40s, my goal is longevity—staying active so I can keep up with my kids as they grow.
What were your goals when you started, and have you achieved any of them?
My goal was simple: to move my body how I wanted. That started with one push-up, then a proper squat, then the joy of lifting. I’m still working on it—gymnastics and running are next on my list haha
I believe progress comes from showing up every day.
What about BSC makes you keep coming back?
The community. When I moved to Portland in 2022 to pursue my dream in sports products, BSC welcomed me like family. It instantly felt like home.
When/what was your "ah ha!" moment?
I always knew about the CrossFit Hierarchy of Development, but it hit differently 10 years into Crossfit. I used to eat whatever I wanted and still perform well—but that changed. Now, I try my best to prioritize and focus on nutrition, metabolic conditioning, and gymnastics, and it’s amazing how everything else, including weightlifting, naturally improves when the foundation is strong.
Does anyone at the gym (member or trainer) inspire you and why?
Everybody at the gym. Seeing people push to be better versions of themselves keeps me going. I root for them, and they inspire me all the time.
